Breast reduction was what this 21 young woman sought, having trouble finding bras to fit her, never able to exercise despite wearing all sorts of minimizers. This woman from Long Island wore a 36D cup bra, which was too tight. She also suffered from back and neck pain.
Examining her it was clear that she had true breast hypertrophy (medical-speak for overly large breasts). We submitted her medical information to her insurance company, and after a lot of effort, on her part and ours, we were able to get her breast reduction on Long Island covered by insurance. Getting coverage is something we try hard for our patients.
Her surgery was done, as is usually the case, as an outpatient. She was a bit groggy that day, but bounced back quickly, and we removed her drains a few days later.
When seen in these photographs about 8 months after surgery the scars have started to fade, but will typically get better for 2 years after surgery. She doesn't care about the scars, but is delighted to be able to wear a dress, exercise, and not just cover up with sweatshirts.
