This 31 year old Long Island resident lost 40 pounds that had crept up on her, all by diet and exercise. Unfortunately, her breasts were left with a lot of excess skin. She wasn't looking for a breast augmentation, but for a breast lift, or mastopexy.
Examination at our Huntington plastic surgery office showed that her breast size was very proportional to her body. There was no exercise, though, that would lift her breasts. Because there was so much excess skin we planned a breast lift with the full "keyhole" or "anchor-shaped" incision. And in her case we needed to extend the incision below the breast to extend laterally on the chest, where it would be hidden by a bathing suit or bra.
It is remarkable how little pain breast lift patients have, and this young woman was no exception. Breast augmentation is more uncomfortable, because the implants are usually placed beneath the muscle.
As the months have passed these mastopexy scars have faded, and they continue to fade for 1-2 years. It is a trade this Suffolk County woman was happy to make.
