Real Patient Stories: Patient 1

Sharon is a 31-year-old Long Island patient of ours who had a breast augmentation two years ago. She went back and forth about having a breast enlargement for quite a while before actually deciding on the surgery.

Sharon relied on the advice of a trusted friend for making her decision to have her breast enlargement at Romanelli Cosmetic Surgery on Long Island. She was referred to Dr. Romanelli by a friend who had her breast implants by Dr. Romanelli. Sharon and her friend both loved the friend’s results. At her consultation, we talked about her desire for breast enlargement. Then we examined her and reviewed her options as well as before and after photographs. Sharon was a bit anxious and uncomfortable at first about talking about breast augmentation, but as the possibility became a reality, she started to get excited.

Sharon began as a size A, and that really was not in balance with rest of her body. She did have some health concerns about different types of implants as well as possible side effects of the surgery. We discussed all those concerns in detail and offered her saline as well as the new high strength silicone gel implants (Gummy Bear implants). Sharon decided to go ahead with the new type of silicone gel implants.

Sharon certainly did have some discomfort during her recovery, feeling a fair amount of pressure pain in the first few days. That is certainly natural for someone who went from an A- size to a full C. Each day, she felt more comfortable and was better able to use her arms, getting back to work within about one week.

Seeing Sharon recently in the office, it is quite clear that she is much more comfortable inside of her own skin. Now her upper body compliments her lower body. And she has cleavage now for the first time! She is curvy but proportional and is very happy about her appearance. For us, it is always a pleasure to work with a patient who is carefully considering her options, and to help see them through to great satisfaction.
